| (Carleton Place) - – Young people from Carleton Place had the opportunity to watch some exciting junior hockey first hand, thanks to Tomahawk Technologies Inc. On Oct. 14, 10 youth from the Carleton Place and District Youth Centre got to see some Ontario Hockey League (OHL) action at the Ottawa Civic Centre. The Ottawa 67’s took on the Peterborough Petes in that contest and for many of the youth, it marked the first time they attended a hockey game outside of Carleton Place. "This (trip) was thanks to the absolute generosity of Tomahawk Technologies," said youth centre executive director Meghan Lepine. "Without the generosity of our community, many young people would not have the opportunity to attend and take part in many events and activities and gain valuable life experiences." According to Michael Freeman, VP of Business Operations for Tomahawk, the company received the tickets after completing a website entitled ‘kilreaskids.com’. The website is part of the ‘Firefighters for Kids’ charity, run by Ottawa firefighter Kevin Shields. Ottawa 67’s coach and general manager Brian Kilrea is very involved in the charity and organized the first Brian Kilrea Help Kids Golf Classic this year. "It’s a charity designed to assist underprivileged children," Freeman explains. “We did a site for them for free and as part of that we got a box for two games. We will also donate the next one to the youth centre as well.” Tomahawk Technologies Inc. is a privately held and profitable high-tech firm that creates advanced web solutions for companies across North America and is active in local events, charities and organizations. ParkAdmin, a web-enabled solution for administrators of parking and security management, was created by Tomahawk in 2001 specifically for a local university and is now installed in campuses across North America. -30- For more information on Tomahawk Technologies Inc. contact: Michael Freeman VP, Business Operations 1-613-257-4141, ext. 268 or at michael.freeman@tomahawk.ca or visit the website at www.tomahawk.ca
