The website created by Tomahawk is called ‘CanadianFitnessMatters.ca’ and it is a shopping guide of sorts that lists more than 10,000 fitness-related facilities across the country. It is designed to help consumers make informed choices about fitness matters of importance to them.CanadianFitnessMatters.ca is the web-based consumer information program of the OASES. OASES a not-for-profit organization managed by a volunteer board of directors and the new website marked the second major project Tomahawk has worked on for the organization.

“This site (CanadianFitnessMatters.ca) is a storage facility for gyms across Canada. OASES is hoping to have as many gyms as possible register on this site,” states Michael Freeman, Tomahawk’s VP, Business Operations.

This new site also features information on the fitness facilities nearest the site user, its services and unique amenities. It also identifies those facilities that are recognized for their compliance with the Canadian Fitness Safety Standards© and provides a direct link to their websites.

According to OASES executive director Patricia Clark, OASES welcomed the opportunity to work with Tomahawk again. The first successful venture between the two organizations involved the developing a system where members of OASES could participate in an on-line forum and fill out surveys. This project, completed two years ago, gave OASES feedback from real gym owners about safety standards.

“We have an excellent working relationship, which is why we went back to Tomahawk Technologies again,” Clark explains, adding Tomahawk’s proposal was one of three OASES received for consideration. “They are very service oriented and will do all they can to ensure the client is pleased with the work.”

Clark adds that Tomahawk pays close attention to detail and that was also a factor in working with the firm on a project as important as the development of ‘CanadianFitnessMatter.ca.

“Tomahawk Technologies provided us with the product that we required within the financial constraints of our proposal, and they were able to meet our timelines,” she notes. “Their history working with us in the past to develop our on-line forum and on our-line renewal system was certainly an asset to them as they had a much better understanding of our needs.”

Freeman notes “the common thread” between the previous and new projects undertaking for OASES is fitness safety standards.

“We have worked with Tomahawk for three or four years and I expect we will continue to work with them in future projects,” Clark concludes.
