The event ticket seller enlisted the Carleton Place firm for database development that allows for one-stop shopping for tourists coming to Ottawa. Interested travelers can visit www.otttawatourism.ca and once there, can locate and select a travel package that suits their interests. Tomahawk did not design the tourism site as it was already pre-existing and very successful. Tomahawk worked on the back-end database development that allows the administrators to create and manage the packages and the user to book the tourism package of choice.

“There’s the front of end of it (the website), that allows the users to choose their hotel and package. Capital Tickets is handling the back end of the system (tickets). We (Tomahawk Technologies Inc.) worked in conjunction with Capital Tickets to the do the database development on the back end of the site.” Michael Freeman, Tomahawk’s VP, Business Operations, says of the website. “This site is a tourism guide to the city of Ottawa. The site provides a number of packages to visitors. Each package contains a number of different events that are going on throughout the city.”

He notes the biggest section of the project was actually its administration side. This side, he explains, allows the administrator to input the hotels, hotel room, hotel details, events and all the details that go with the events, and allows the administrator to then create packages based on all events and the hotels that are participating in the package.

Freeman adds the entire inventory on the site is in real-time with regards to tickets to some events and hotel rooms.

“That was one of our major projects this spring,” he notes. “It went live in June. We are pleased that Capital Tickets wanted us to be part of their exciting initiative.”
