Tomahawk Technologies Sponsors Canada Day Events in Carleton Place

(Carleton Place) - Every year, huge Canada Day celebrations are held on July 1st in towns and cities all across Canada. While Ottawa gets the biggest budget for the festivities due to its status as National Capital City, Carleton Place held a smaller, yet still bustling celebration of Canada's birthday in Riverside Park. Tomahawk Technologies, a locally owned private and profitable high-tech corporation was actively involved with the day's events. Tomahawk Technologies are the hosts of the annual Carleton Place Canada Day Beach Volleyball Tournament competition and new in 2004, Tomahawk Technologies also sponsored Firetruck photos with the local fire department.

In time to be in the competition for the coveted title of champion. Last year's winning team, "Some Volleyball Team" were back to defend their title. They fought hard to successfully defend their title against the 2nd place team, "the Underdogs" to defend their title in a tense but exciting best 2 out of 3 championship match that was won by the slimmest of point margins. A large crowd had gathered to watch the final 2 teams square off in their exciting edge-of-seat, point-by-point, battle to the finish.

Team Tomahawk put in a Beach Volleyball team, but did not make it to the finals in the competition.

"It's difficult to beat seasoned teams that play together as a team every week", said Michael Freeman, the Team Tomahawk captain.

"We actually have a pretty tall team", said Amanda Mulloy before she realized that vertically challenged team member, Joan Batucan was only 5 foot 2 inches tall.

The photos printed with the town's fire truck and the town firemen were also sponsored by Tomahawk Technologies. Over 100 photos were printed on Canada Day as people braved the intermittent thundershowers to line up to get their photos taken with the local fire department.

The Carleton Place Chamber of Commerce were delighted to receive the almost $1000 cheque from Tomahawk Technologies from the proceeds of the Beach Volleyball competition and the hugely popular photos with the town fire truck.
